Anatomy – Sacrum Gluteus Dance

Learn how to work with imbalances and weaknesses in the Gluteus. Imbalance in the Glutes can create and exacerbate instability and body misalignment.

The gluteus maximus (with  gluteus medius and minimus make up "glutes") is the main extensor muscle of the hip. It makes up a large portion of the shape and appearance of the hips. Some of the muscles that attach to the sacrum can cause pressure in that area and in the deep lateral rotators, hamstrings, hip flexors and pelvic floor muscles.

Low back or sacrum pain can be complicated, and the point of pain isn't the only place you want to look. There are so many muscles causing pressure on this area, like a suspension bridge, so the entire area must be looked at to work with any issues of pain and misalignment.

Low back  and sacrum pain has increased due to the posture of modern life. We are all sitting long hours in front of computers,  creating tension and low back problems. Hamstrings shortening and the hip flexors, and muscles attached to pelvis and low back.
