Back Care – Vinyasa Options

We look at how to work with issues of low back pain and/or knee injury.

Showing a sequence that flows from the middle, and moving in the strength of the legs, we can identify structural issues and habits. Showing an option for poses is given towards end of session and allows teachers to offer options as necessary without breaking the flow of class.

It takes time to developĀ  awareness and coordination to gain the benefits of many the poses in a way that helps imbalances contributing to Low Back Pain. Yoga asana using external support through the use of props enables us to rest and find correct postural alignment.

Specific alignment in asana creates space in the body, and the bolsters, blankets, blocks and belts provide support.

Props help create controlled active or passive movement and deepens awareness of imbalances. Props are useful for facilitating rest and relaxation, avoiding strain, revealing imbalances and restrictions.
