Forgive Them Anyway
This verse was written by Mother Teresa. It is engraved on the wall of her hospital for children in Calcutta and dedicated to people throughout the world.
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, People may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight.
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous.
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;
it was never between you and them anyway.

I’ve read this many times in my life. Everytime I do, I can’t help but STOP the madness and notice how it relates to my daily activity. The extraordinary message always produces a different “resonance” for me to uncover.
today…is the perfect day to read this and tomorrow will be the perfect day and the next and the next.
[…] said, perhaps we should all take a moment at the end of the year to read what Mother Teresa has to say on forgiveness. Might try some of that on… both forgiving myself and others, too. […]
This is the sort of thing we all need pinned to our bedroom wall to read and re-read… none of us are immune! xo
I truly believe blog posts pop into my Google Reader at specific times when I need them most. This is one of them. Many thanks for sharing it today.
My husband and I used this for the yearbook ad we took out for our daughter when she graduated high school. It seemed like great words of advice as she was becoming a more responsible person! So glad you posted!xo
