Restorative poses have a special ability to leave us feeling deeply nourished and rested. These asanas are supported by blankets, blocks, or other props and held for several minutes to let the rest soak in. This series will explore the subtle aspects of setting up and creating space to hold Restorative poses as sanctuary for mind, body and spirit.

This session looks at Anxiety and how to work with Restorative poses. Anxiety happens as a normal part of life. It is an unpleasant state of inner turmoil, and can be useful for alerting to danger.

Persistent anxiety can interfere with work, concentration or sleep. For some people, anxiety can become excessive, and while the person suffering may realize their anxiety is too much, they may have difficulty controlling it and it may negatively affect their life.

This session looks at Yoga for Depression and how to use Restorative poses to work with Depression. Yoga offers a unique approach to depression as it addresses the mental factors that lead to depression, and the physiological factors. In this way a person is able to practice yoga to that help relax the physical systems and begin the process of self-investigation and discovery.

There are many different treatments for depression, ranging from types of psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and medication to nutrition, diet and alternative therapies.

Grief is a multi-faceted response to loss, usually focused on the emotional response to loss, yet it also has physical, cognitive, behavioral, social, and philosophical dimensions. Bereavement refers to the state of loss, and grief is the reaction to loss.
